The content of Petro-aggression was merged into Resource curse on 17 April 2022. The former page's history now serves to provide attribution for that content in the latter page, and it must not be deleted as long as the latter page exists. For the discussion at that location, see its talk page.
This article warranted a mention of Fareed Zakaria (as it should), but I think a mention of Tom Friedman might belong as well. Then again, maybe going down that path would result in an inclusion of everyone who's said or written anything on the topic.

The level of constant thin criticism and lack interconnected nuance makes this article read as a right wing economic opinion piece. It's not simply that resources lead to poverty clearly their is resource wealth involved in a financially successful country, that's always a factor. It's that combined with a relationship formed between countries, often drawn along racial, cultural, and ancestral lines that determine what countries are aligned together and what countries are viewed as a threat or rather target, it makes logical sense for countries to impose power on those that are the greatest threats to them economically. 2607:FEA8:BDE0:1931:DC24:464A:8C70:BAC (talk) 07:48, 25 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

I am surprised there is no mention of Spain and the downside for the home country of their colonization of the Americas. A quick Google gives [1], but I first came across this particular resource curse/Dutch disease example decades ago. 128.91.40.237 (talk) 15:12, 24 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
