Etymology and History

[edit]

Etymology:I think Names of Nigeria should have it own page plus in the Irish language, Nigeria is known as An Nigeir similar to the country Niger Republic plus there should be a detailed information on Naija. History: I think it should be classed into 4 period- Prehistoric Nigeria (Dufuna Canoe era); Ancient Nigeria (Nok Civilization and tribal kingdoms era); Colonial Nigeria (the 30+ Provinces should be included); and Modern Nigeria Indomie-Man 1994 (talk) 05:19, 4 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

History: I notice dates in the pre-history section use the labels AD and BC rather than CE and BCE, as is the contemporary convention. Is there a reason for this? Is there a regional style preference being honored or is this simply a use of outdated labels? (It's probably been more than 20 years since I've seen a new publication use AD or BC.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Griffitj (talkcontribs) 21:13, 19 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

For an explaination of "AD and BC rather than CE and BCE", refer to WP:BCE. Modifying such words is contentious and forbidden without appropriate consensus. Tbhotch (CC BY-SA 4.0) 03:41, 20 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
