Separate page for Mills College?

Famous Mills College alums now show up in Google as having attended "Mills College at Northeastern University."

This is a practical impossibility: as I write this, no one has even started classes at "Mills College at Northeastern University," much less graduated. In fact, it will not even offer four-year programs until 2023-24 at the earliest.

As Mills was a liberal arts school, and Northeastern is not accredited to offer about 70% of Mills' programs, it also misrepresents the two schools. When Google pulls the alma mater for Laurie Anderson, Sofia Coppola, and Jade Snow Wong, and because of the redirect to this page, lists them as graduates of "Mills College at Northeastern University," it makes it look like Northeastern offers avant-garde interdisciplinary programs that it never has.

It's having a very widespread effect on Google's search results. When I search for "what did Barbara Lee major in," the top result is her official Congressional biography. Just below that search result, Google adds, "Education: Mills College at Northeastern University." But the page itself, https://lee.house.gov/about/biography, never mentions Northeastern University.

These are two separate educational institutions, and they need two separate pages. Oakling (talk) 03:54, 2 September 2022 (UTC)

Well, the fact that Northeastern University absorbed an historic women's liberal arts college and basically entirely erased its identity to turn it into a business school should inform this article somewhere in the text. Pascalulu88 (talk) 22:24, 27 April 2026 (UTC)

Merged or acquired?

Should the terminology in the article remain as merged, or be changed to acquired? Northeastern and Mills define it as a merger, but a merger implies in my opinion the combination into a new entity. This is not the case. Mills was absorbed to be a Northeastern campus. Straight.Up.Sean (talk) 19:45, 1 November 2023 (UTC)

California law on nonprofits calls this a merger. There is no "aquisition" for nonprofits in California. That is a business term. 50.226.171.110 (talk) 21:02, 24 January 2025 (UTC)

Pre vs Post Merger/Acquisition Delineation

Should the article be reformated to make clear where pre merger statistics and information stop and post merger statistics and information start? Straight.Up.Sean (talk) 19:52, 1 November 2023 (UTC)

coed?

just to clarify, the GRAD programs went coed in the 1920s, but the UNDERGRAD college remains women-only to this day?

Mills College at Northeastern University → Mills College – Mills College is the WP:COMMONNAME for the institution and was the name for the majority of its existence until 2022. Despite the merger with Northeastern, it is still predominantly referred to as Mills College. Additionally, the "merger" is only legally, and is better described as an absorption into being a constituent college.
