Merging infobox

@Absolutiva, please confer with my previously given edit summary. You do not have consensus to unilaterally enforce all your preferred forms and styles across many articles, especially when there are counteracting reasons explicitly given to you for things being otherwise, so please do not act as if you do. Grapesurgeon added |module= parameter to {{Infobox writing system}}, which allows embedding other templates in this one, see here. Hangul is the first time to embedding infobox with {{Infobox Korean name/auto}}. Absolutiva 22:15, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

I understand what is achieved with the parameter.. Please confer with the reasons already given for why it's not right for this article. You cannot be dogmatic like this given the volume at which you make these kinds of edits to important articles. Remsense 🌈 论 22:23, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

It's part of the bold edit what I previously attempt to merge infobox containing |module= parameter like this, this and that. Unlike other templates that recently added |module= parameter, including {{Infobox holiday}}, {{Infobox food}} or {{Infobox newspaper}}, as an example for embedding parent infobox with child infoboxes. Article Name Change or Splitting proposal

Should this article be renamed as "Hanzi", or get split into a separate article under the name of "Hanzi" be created where the Chinese and China-specific information gets migrated and elaborated on so this original article just serves as a general overview of Chinese characters across all languages? This is because the usage of Chinese characters in other East Asian languages have their own articles titled after what Chinese characters are called in those languages, such as Kanji, Hanja and Chữ Nôm, whereas Hanzi does not have such a corresponding article. It's quite strange if articles about other languages' utilisation of Chinese characters have indigenized titles while Chinese itself does not. And it's not a situation of WP:COMMONNAME either as the term "hanzi" seems to also be quite commonly used in the Anglophonic sphere now. Nyarlathotep1001 (talk) 04:10, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

Proposed lead image change

I’d like to propose replacing the current lead image with File:Chinese character forms of Han and Zi.svg.

My rationale is that it illustrates, in a single image, a bronze-inscription form together with traditional and simplified forms, which may better convey the historical development and graphic variation of Chinese characters to readers at the top of the article. In addition, because the traditional form in the image is based on a historically attested stele form, it is more calligraphically distinctive and visually representative than the current modern computer-font form.

I am not proposing any change to the article’s substantive claims here—only a change of the lead illustration and caption. If there is support, I can restore the edit in line with consensus. Quinlan718 (talk) 02:26, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
