Chapter 55A Electric Rates

Availability. This service is available to the customers located on the Borough's distribution lines who desire service for household and other related uses in a single private dwelling or an individual dwelling unit in a multiple dwelling structure and its a appurtenant detached buildings.

Character of service. The service provided shall be alternating current, nominal frequency 60 hertz (cycles per second).

Billing. The charges for electrical use are computed and billed on a bi-monthly basis for service taken.

Monthly rate.

Minimum monthly charge. The minimum charge shall be an amount equal to the customer charge but not less than $7.40.

Payment terms. Bills are due payable when rendered. If unpaid at the end of 25 days, the Board of Public Works reserve the right to terminate service following suitable written notice.

Special provisions. Owners of record of property within the Borough of Park Ridge shall not be required to pay a deposit. All others shall be required to pay a deposit based upon estimated bills which would accrue for two-and-one-half months' service. The Board of Public works shall have the right to increase the amount of a deposit if in its judgment such action is necessary.

Availability. This service is available to all customers located on the Borough's distribution lines and desiring services for household and other related uses in a single private dwelling, or an individual dwelling unit in a multiple dwelling structure, and its appurtenant detached buildings.

Character of service. The type of service shall be alternative current, 60 cycle.

Billing. All heating customers are billed monthly for electric usage.

The monthly rate for heat shall be:

Minimum monthly charge. The minimum monthly charge shall be an amount equal to the customer charge per month but not less than $7.40.

Payment terms. The bills are due when rendered. If the bill is not paid within 25 days, the Board of Public Works reserves the right to terminate service following suitable written notice.

Special provisions. Owners of record of property within the Borough of Park Ridge shall not be required to pay a deposit. All tenants are required to pay a security deposit. Such deposit will be held until the premises are vacated and all final bills are paid in full. Interest on the deposit is applied to the account once a year. The Board of Public Works shall have the right to increase the amount of the deposit if in its judgment such action is necessary.

Applicability. This rate shall be applicable to the use of service for private residential purposes when the following criteria and conditions are met:

All others shall be required to pay a deposit based upon estimated bills which would accrue for two-and-one-half-months' services. The Board of Public Works shall have the right to increase the amount of a deposit if in its judgment such action is necessary.

Availability. Available to non-residential customers located on the Borough's distribution lines desiring electric service for general lighting and/or power service and whose annual average billing demand is not more than 100 KW. All such service shall be taken through one meter.

Character of service. Alternating current, 60 cycle.

Billing. Charges are computed and billed on a monthly basis with monthly payments for service taken.

Monthly rate. The customer's monthly bill shall be the sum of the demand and energy charges.

Minimum monthly charge. The minimum monthly charge shall be an amount equal to the customer charge but not less than $33.27.

Determination of demand. The demand will be determined at the option of the Board of Public Works by estimate or by test at the time of maximum use or by demand meter measurement. When measured by indicating meters the demand shall be the highest 15 minutes demand in kilowatts used during the month.

Availability. Availability to customers located on the Borough's distribution lines desiring electric service for general and/or power service and whose average annual billing demand is not less than 100 KW.

Character of service. Alternating current, 60 cycle.

Special provisions. Owners of record of property within the Borough of Park Ridge shall not be required to pay a deposit. All others shall be required to pay a deposit based on at least two and a half times the estimated monthly bill. In no case shall a deposit be less than $1,000.

Availability. This rate is available for private, non-municipal street, bridge, parks and outdoor lighting in the entire territory served by the Borough.

Flat monthly rate.

Availability. Service to municipally owned buildings and fixtures, excluding street lights.

Character of service. Variable; as required.

Billing. Charges are computed and billed bimonthly for service taken.

Monthly rate.

Availability. Available to commercial customers (non-residential) who request separate, minimal service to common areas, unoccupied or temporary structures.

Character of service. Variable; as required. Service shall be separately metered and billed.

Billing. Changes are computed and billed bi-monthly for services taken.

Monthly rate.

Minimum monthly charge: $7.40 per month.

Payment terms. Bills are due and payable when rendered. If unpaid at the end of 25 days, the Board of Public Works reserves the right to terminate service following suitable written notice.

An adjustment clause shall be applied to each kilowatt-hour (KWH) supplied under all rate schedules. This adjustment clause determined to the nearest $0.00001 in accordance with the formula set forth below shall be applied to all kilowatt-hours supplied during the billing period. It shall be determined on an annual basis, but may be revised periodically during the course of the year by the Board of Public works upon a showing of good cause.

Effective January 1, 2026, the power adjustment rate is $0.00740 (per KWH).

Sewer meter: $11.10.

Cablevision meter: $63.61.

Temporary flat fee: $33.27.

Reconnection service: $18.49.

Residential (bimonthly): $14.80.

Bills are due and payable when rendered. If unpaid at the end of 25 days, the Board of Public Works reserves the right to terminate services following suitable written notice.

Who are delinquent 60 days or more from the billing due date are subject to discontinuation of services.

Whose service is disconnected will be charged a shutoff fee of $50. There will be no reconnect fee during the Park Ridge Electric Department's normal business hours of 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Will be charged a reconnection fee of $100 during nonbusiness hours, prior to 7:30 a.m. and after 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Residential: $200.

Electric heat: $200.

Senior citizen, lifeline and disability service: $150.

Lehman Gardens: $150.

General: $ 1,000.

Large power: $10,000.

New general power commercial power users that intend to operate a use similar to that of an existing commercial customer at the same location may apply to the Board of Public Works for a reduced security deposit. New general power commercial users seeking a reduced deposit shall be required to submit an application for reduction with the new general commercial power user's initial $1,000 deposit. Upon review of the application, the Board of Public Works shall reduce the deposit to an amount equal to the one-year average of the prior commercial power user's prior two years of billing or the amount of $350, whichever is greater. In the event the Board of Public Works determines to reduce the security deposit, it shall issue a refund to the customer with the next utility cycle bill in an amount equal to the general commercial customer's initial $1,000 deposit less the amount of the charge for that utility cycle bill and less the amount of the administratively reduced required security deposit.

Owner-occupied residential and existing commercial users shall be required to pay a deposit as outlined in Sections §§ 55A-12 and 55A-13, respectively.

In addition, all delinquent users shall be subject to an increase in deposit based upon estimated bills which would accrue for two months' service calculated using an average of the two highest billings in the 12 months; or if service has not been in effect for 12 months, then the average would be calculated based upon time occupied.

Availability: for the usage of all electric vehicle charging stations located on public property that are owned and maintained by the Borough of Park Ridge.
