Technical Update: September 21, 2015

Here are the latest technical updates at Wikia. Keep in mind that our system updates happen every Tuesday and Thursday - today's notes are for tomorrow's site update. Also note that we change hundreds of tiny details every week, so these are just the highlights.

Notable Changes

Detailed CSS updates can be found at http://report.wikia.net - the diffs show changes to .css, .scss, .tmpl.php, .html, .sass and .mustache files in Wikia's codebase.

• MediaWiki namespace pages ending in '.css' will be added to the MediaWiki namespace whitelist.
  • Note, this means Verbatim will no longer parse pages ending in ".css". We strongly recommend using community CSS if you wish to apply CSS to individual pages - guidelines are available on Help:Advanced_CSS_and_JS#Advanced_notes.
• A new message will be added, MediaWiki:Chat-entry-point-guidelines allowing users to add guideline links to the right rail Chat module. This message is empty by default, accepts wikitext input, and appears at the bottom right of the module.
• The Insert Infobox dialog in the VisualEditor will now list infoboxes in alphabetical order, and with spaces instead of underscores.
