Request reason: "So let's start from the beginning. Back in 2022, 3 years ago, I was still a secondary school student and I was still new to uploading on Commons, I uploaded files taken from both YouTube videos, and files related to the Cambodian royal family. At the time, I both did not know how to search for Creative Commons videos on YouTube and also did not know about how unlike the rest of the world Cambodian copyright was regarding public figures. I do apologize for my actions back then, but there hasn't been any incident like that since 2023. In 2023, I did upload a selfie taken by someone else who granted me permission, and he did provide an informal statement that I forwarded to VRT, but he didn't understand and didn't care enough to know how the system Commons has works.
The first big thing I want to talk about is "File:Plainrock124 X profile picture.jpg", that is where I got my warning for supposedly uploading copyrighted content as the file "had no claim in it being AI Art", however the administrator who gave me the warning later rescinded that, but the file that succeeded it was later deleted to scope issues (aka not a copyright issue). I personally feel like that warning should not apply directly to my upload there, since the copyright status of AI art should be treated on a case by case basis.
The thing that directly led to the block was my uploads of Ray William Johnson. In that case, I saw channels that to me looked legit, and pointed to Ray's actual social media. I contacted Ray's team, afterwards they eventually confirmed that the channels were not affiliated with Ray. I took accountability, speedily deleting those uploads myself. I think it's unfair that this is what broke the camels back.
But in terms of all of my uploads, those that have been deleted for copyright reasons are just a small fraction, sure it can be (and I promise to) work on making that number smaller. But most of my contributions are actually related to other uploader's DRs and SDs, I have an understanding of copyright violations that most other people that I've seen get blocked for don't. It appears you have made a huge mistake. That photo of CG5 was taken from a YouTube video with a Creative Commons license. So how come it was still deleted? Please inform me whenever. Thank you.
@Jibblesnark86 The video which you have sourced that screenshot from, while listed as under a CC license, is not eligible to be uploaded to Commons. The CC license is invalid because the uploader is not the copyright holder of the work. The description of the video literally says "Credit to: @CG5" and the videos that this video sources from. How ridiculous. I thought it was easier than this. And I guess all my other uploads got deleted just now for the same reason. I'm kinda disappointed, but I realize what's happening. I think I'll have to take a break from uploading to Commons because of this. I don't want to get punished. But thank you very much anyway.
I just visited Cambodia in 2024 from November 28th to December 23rd, and notably I visited Kampot for the first time and ended up staying a week instead of three days. It's all contained in an album hosted on my Google Pictures. I'll happily give you access to it if there's a way, you just have to tell me how because I'm 41 and don't know. It's not like you'd be accessing my bank account, plus I'm broke so you'd be out of luck anyway.
This is my review of The Palm Ice Cream in Siem Reap. They had palm sugar ice cream and I absolutely love the taste of (undiluted) palm sugar. It’s also a symbol of Cambodia:
I also visited Cambodia in December of 2022, during which I for the first time visited Koh Rong, specifically BeachWalk Hotel/Resort on the stunning, unspoilt Long set Beach. This was my first time experiencing white sand (I'm from Michigan, USA, where beaches are beautiful but no white sand!). I don't have a Google album for that trip, but they're still mostly accessible through my phone so I'm guess that means through Google too? Again, just tell me what I need to do and I'll give you access.
I first visited in February of 2019, but the album is on Facebook and not Google.
If that's not possible, I'll just post a screengrab from my Google album and upload them here, though I'm assuming it's actually possible to do that. I *may* be able to produce screengrabs of conversations between myself and Cambodians in Cambodia, or expats/immigrants in Cambodia, discussing my trips.

What do I have to do to show this person that this is MY photo that has been cropped? I replied with two photos that might be the original with the "metadata."

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2025 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year is the twentieth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favourite images featured on Commons during the last year (2025) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just five images to become the Picture of the Year.

Wikimedia Commons is pleased to finally announce the winners of this year's Picture of the Year 2025 contest! We had some truly incredible finalists to choose from, but the community has spoken.
Here are your top three winning images:

I also want to highlight what an incredible turnout we had. In the second round, we saw a massive jump in both the number of users voting and the total votes cast. We had exactly 13,979 votes cast by 3,509 users! To put that in perspective, last year we had 7,403 votes from 2,837 users. It is amazing to see that level of growth and community engagement.
Thank you to everyone who voted, helped organize, and generally made the contest such a huge success this year!
