Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.

Please refrain from tagging such files as duplicates.

1. The video is longer; it has an intro, which the other file lacks.
2. This is an excellent file in enwp and was twice Media of the Day, as well as a featured Media on Commons.

Please pay close attention to such things before tagging something as a duplicate. Furthermore, it would be desirable if you added an archive to your discussion page; it's filling up and becoming cluttered. You just need to add a bottask to your page. You can find a detailed explanation here: en:User:MiszaBot/Archive HowTo. You can define the size of the archive, numbering, etc. yourself.

Correction request: misidentified person in this photo

Hello,

I would like to inform you that the image you uploaded (ARC 6398465) appears to be misidentified.

The person in the photograph is not General Chung Ho-yong. It is General Chung Jin-kwon, who served as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Republic of Korea.

Due to this misidentification, the image is currently being used incorrectly in various online sources and educational materials, which is causing confusion.

I kindly request that this issue be reviewed and corrected to prevent further misinformation.

First of all, this came from a private organization, so the California public records act does not apply. Second of all, if you read the California license template you would know that school districts ARE permitted to claim copyright.
