Silly nonsense

I've watchlisted your page, and I'll continue to revert the trolling. The IP range 70.240.0.0 - 70.255.255.255 is owned by SBC Internet Services in Dallas, Texas. I don't know how SBC handles their allocation, but I will block if there is more nonsense here. You may want to file a user complaint with abuse@swbell.net if you feel it is worth the effort. Sorry I forgot to put the tag on. It's a painting from 1666. I've removed the nolicence tag and replaced it with PD-art. I hope this was the proper thing to do. Bishonen 22:29, 15 September 2006 (UTC).Reply

I noticed you've uploaded Image:B-17 Love.jpg and I thought I should turn your attention to a common error.
Please give some thought to writing a good description of uploaded images. This ensures that they can be used in more than one way. It also helps those that review and improve categories do a better job, which also ensures that images will get used in novel and interesting ways. Thanks, and happy editing! -- Bryan (talk to me) 21:42, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

If I put the info in before the actual uploading, I get a lot of odd doubling and a less specific license, and have to change the whole thing anyway. - Sorry, but i don't understand that; you can add both source, description and license during upload.
But nevermind, everything is fine now, I apparently spotted this image before you had a chance to add a description. -- Bryan (talk to me) 21:59, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Bishonen!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2017 is open!

[edit]

You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2017 Picture of the Year contest, but not yet in R2.

Dear Bishonen,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2017 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the twelfth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2017) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top 2 from each sub-category.

In the final round, you may vote for a maximum of three images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2017.

Round 2 will end on 22 July 2018, 23:59 UTC.

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Wasted Time

[edit]
 • There's no point in requesting unblock here on my page on Commons, or on Anachronist's Commons page either, Contributer1234. You're not blocked on Commons, so please don't waste the time of admins here. Instead, please just wait for somebody to respond to your (second) unblock request on your Wikipedia page. If that takes too long, you can go to UTRS. Not to Commons. Bishonen (talk) 15:19, 1 November 2021 (UTC).Reply

Announcing the Winners of Picture of the Year 2025!

[edit]

Hi everyone,

Wikimedia Commons is pleased to finally announce the winners of this year's Picture of the Year 2025 contest! We had some truly incredible finalists to choose from, but the community has spoken.

Here are your top three winning images:

You can view the full results and see where all your favorite images placed here: Full 2025 Results

I also want to highlight what an incredible turnout we had. In the second round, we saw a massive jump in both the number of users voting and the total votes cast. We had exactly 13,979 votes cast by 3,509 users! To put that in perspective, last year we had 7,403 votes from 2,837 users. It is amazing to see that level of growth and community engagement.

Thank you to everyone who voted, helped organize, and generally made the contest such a huge success this year!

Regards,
ZI Jony
