Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Categorising

Hi. Thanks for your election maps. Next time you upload could you add categories to them? You can use Election maps of <state> as each state has a category. TIA Gbawden (talk) 06:37, 30 July 2019 (UTC)

New senate election articles for the 1970s and 1980s

Hi, I've noticed you create new election articles and appear to be pretty active, whenever you have the time would you mind making new articles for the United States senate elections, particularly those from the 1970s and 80s, I noticed some are still missing particularly ones for Washington state and Wyoming, if you can I'm skilled with ink scape and can create the new maps for the pages once you have created them, let me know what you think, have a good day! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Putitonamap98 (talk • contribs) 05:37, 2 March 2021 (UTC)

Hey, I'm curious if you'd be interesting in collaborating at my recently-created Commons:WikiProject Elections and Referendums, since it seems like you've been working in this field for a while. I and some other editors are looking to standardize the naming, colors, and shapes of US-related maps across Commons and Wikipedia - you can see we already have some (though very few) done. Thanks! @Alexcs114: Hello; some sources on the 1848 election below:

• Normally I would recommend https://uselectionatlas.org/RESULTS/stats.php?year=1848&f=1&off=0&elect=0, but the site appears to be down, hopefully only temporarily.
• https://www.ourcampaigns.com/RaceDetail.html?RaceID=295163 can also be a good starting point, though it isn't an authoritative source on its own, since it also uses wikistyle editing.
• From there, I would try HathiTrust or Archive.org, which are good sources for mundane public documents like reports of votes.

I can try to take a more thorough look for this myself; a short search didn't turn anything up.

I'm sorry I didn't write down the source I used for the Governor's map; poor form on my part. It was likely US Election Atlas, though.

So I had a whole paragraph written up about how i'd gone through all of those sources and couldn't find anything except one nationwide map (here, if you'd like to read), but it's redundant now. I'm telling you the following since I think you might find it useful also, as I notice you too make historical maps. So, on @Tilden76's (creator of the nationwide by-county for 1848 presidential) talk page, he listed 1836-1892: "Presidential Ballots 1836 - 1892 by Burnham, W. Dean" as a source. Learning about the existence of that instantly restored my faith in humanity. Anyway, it has been digitized by the internet archive, and on pages 632-646 is the data I need! It's no red (or blue) book, but it's certainly quite awesome. Thanks for the help though, because HathiTrust looks really interesting. I looked up some stuff on there, and they've got like all the historical assembly manuals for NY. Alexcs114 (talk) 06:38, 31 May 2023 (UTC)

@Reppop Thank you; based on more thorough review of the policy here it appears this (and three other files) should be removed. I had a mistaken belief about the C-SPAN copyright policy. Is it possible for me to formalize my support for speedy removal, therefore demonstrating my understanding to avoid being blocked from editing? -A-M-B-1996- (talk) 02:01, 19 October 2023 (UTC)

You shouldn't really worry about that portion of the message since it's just a template, as well as because it's just these uploads. I think your message that you had a mistaken belief is good enough if anyone were to press you, but honestly I don't think anyone would. reppop^talk 02:28, 19 October 2023 (UTC)

Forward pictures
