Featured picture candidates Featured picture candidates are images that the community will vote on, to determine whether or not they will be highlighted as some of the finest on Commons. This page lists the candidates to become featured pictures. The picture of the day images are selected from featured pictures. Old candidates for featured pictures are listed in the log pages and in the candidate archives. There are also chronological lists of featured pictures: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026 and current month. Formal thingsNominatingGuidelines for nominatorsPlease read the complete guidelines before nominating. This is a summary of what to look for when submitting and reviewing FP candidates:
Artworks, illustrations, and historical documentsThere are many different types of non-photographic media, including engravings, watercolors, paintings, etchings, and various others. Hence, it is difficult to set hard-and-fast guidelines. However, generally speaking, works can be divided into three types: Those that can be scanned, those that must be photographed, and those specifically created to illustrate a subject. Works that must be photographed include most paintings, sculptures, works too delicate or too unique to allow them to be put on a scanner, and so on. For these, the requirements for photography, below, may be mostly followed; however, it should be noted that photographs which cut off part of the original painting are generally not considered featurable. Works that may be scanned include most works created by processes that allow for mass distribution − for instance, illustrations published with novels. For these, it is generally accepted that a certain amount of extra manipulation is permissible to remove flaws inherent to one copy of the work, since the particular copy – of which hundreds, or even thousands of copies also exist – is not so important as the work itself. Works created to serve a purpose include diagrams, scientific illustrations, and demonstrations of contemporary artistic styles. For these, the main requirement is that they serve their purpose well. Provided the reproduction is of high quality, an artwork generally only needs one of the following four things to be featurable:
Digital restorations must also be well documented. An unedited version of the image should be uploaded locally, when possible, and cross-linked from the file description page. Edit notes should be specified in detail, such as "Rotated and cropped. Dirt, scratches, and stains removed. Histogram adjusted and colors balanced." PhotographsOn the technical side, we have focus, exposure, composition, movement control and depth of field.
On the graphic elements we have shape, volume, color, texture, perspective, balance, proportion, noise, etc.
You will maximise the chances of your nominations succeeding if you read the complete guidelines before nominating. Video and audioPlease nominate videos, sounds, music, PDFs, etc. at Commons:Featured media candidates. Set nominationsIf a group of images are thematically connected in a direct and obvious way, they can be nominated together as a set. A set should fall under one of the following types:
Adding a new nominationIf you believe that you have found or created an image that could be considered valuable, with appropriate name, quality, image description, categories and licensing, then do the following. Step 1: copy the image name into this box, after the text already present in the box, for example, Commons:Featured picture candidates/File:Your image filename.jpg. Then click on the "create new nomination" button. All single files: For renominations, simply add /2 after the filename. For example, Commons:Featured picture candidates/File:Foo.jpg/2
All set nomination pages should begin "Commons:Featured picture candidates/Set/", e.g. "Commons:Featured picture candidates/Set/My Nomination".
Step 3: manually insert a link to the created page at the top of Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list: Click here, and add the following line to the TOP of the nominations list:
Nominations are time-sensitive and for one-time use only. An automatic clock starts as soon as they are created. Do not create them in advance, save them for later or re-activate them. Galleries and FP categories: Please add a gallery page and section heading from the list at Commons FP galleries. Write the code as Page name#Section heading. For example: Optional: if you are not the creator of the image, please notify them using
An 'Alternative' is created by adding a sub-section to the nomination page: ====Alternative==== VotingEditors whose accounts have at least 10 days and 100 constructive, stable edits on Commons (excluding user and talk pages) can vote. Everybody can vote for their own nominations. Anonymous (IP) votes are not allowed. You may use the following templates:
You may indicate that the image has no chance of success with the template reason - ~~~~, where reason explains why the image is clearly unacceptable as a FP. The template can only be used when there are no support votes other than the one from the nominator. A well-written review helps participants (photographers, nominators and reviewers) improve their skills by providing insight into the strengths and weaknesses of a picture. Explain your reasoning, especially when opposing a candidate (which has been carefully selected by the author/nominator). English is the most widely understood language on Commons, but any language may be used in your review. A helpful review will often reference one or more of the criteria listed above. Unhelpful reasons for opposing include:
Remember also to put your signature (~~~~). Featured picture delisting candidatesOver time, featured picture standards change. It may be decided that for some pictures which were formerly "good enough", this is no longer the case. This is for listing an image which you believe no longer deserves to be a featured picture. For these, vote:
This can also be used for cases in which a previous version of an image was promoted to FP, but a newer version of the image has been made and is believed to be superior to the old version, e.g. a newly edited version of a photo or a new scan of a historical image. In particular, it is not intended for replacing older photos of a particular subject with newer photos of the same subject, or in any other case where the current FP and the proposed replacement are essentially different images. For these nominations, vote:
If you believe that some picture no longer meets the criteria for FP, you can nominate it for delisting, copying the image name into this box, after the text already present in the box: In the new delisting nomination page just created you should include:
After that, you have to manually insert a link to the created page at the top of Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list. As a courtesy, leave an informative note on the talk page(s) of the original creator, uploader(s), and nominator with a link to the delisting candidate. can be used for this purpose. Featured picture candidate policyGeneral rules
Featuring and delisting rulesA candidate will become a featured picture in compliance with following conditions:
The delisting rules are the same as those for FPs, with voting taking place over the same time period. The rule of the 5th day is applied to delisting candidates that have received no votes to delist, other than that of the proposer, by day 5. The FPCBot handles the vote counting and closing in most cases, current exceptions are candidates containing multiple versions (“alternatives”) of the image as well as delist-and-replace nominations. Any experienced user may close the requests not handled by the bot. For instructions on how to close nominations, see Commons:Featured picture candidates/What to do after voting is finished. Also note that there is a manual review stage between when the bot has counted the votes and before the nomination is finally closed by the bot; this manual review can be done by any user familiar with the voting rules. Hint: Until summer 2025, the bot was also not able to process FPXed, FPDed and withdrawn nominations as well as delist nominations; this has been fixed, users do not need to close such nominations anymore. Above all, be politePlease don't forget that the image you are judging is somebody's work. Avoid using phrases like "it looks terrible" and "I hate it". If you must oppose, please do so with consideration. Also remember that your command of English might not be the same as someone else's. Choose your words with care. Happy judging… and remember… all rules can be broken. See also

Support Ocean-related photos are my Achilles’ heel. I spent time looking at this image, searching for some detail in the sky, in the water, or somewhere else that would make it special, but I couldn’t find one. Instead, I see a centered photo that feels monotonous from top to bottom. That said, the shadow makes me question how good this photo really is—not because of what it shows, but because of what it doesn’t show. It is an abstract photo that invites the imagination; I can almost see a lighthouse and a psychiatric hospital in it. --Wilfredor (talk) 02:34, 2 June 2026 (UTC)

Support oppose - vertical light must be vertical, needs perspective correction— Rhododendrites talk | 19:57, 1 June 2026 (UTC)- Rhododendrites and others: Before this gets bogged down in a discussion about perspective correction, let me clarify this. The beams were not coming "straight down" when this photo was taken, they emanated from a point a little above the photo (you can extrapolate the rays). This was the most crazy aurora I've ever witnessed, with some features that don't occur during normal auroras. Like I stated on the file page, it was like standing under a dome of light, with rays coming from a center above me. That's why I could get photos like this where you can clearly see the point of origin of the aurora rays. We don't usually get that at my latitude. The normal thing is that it's centered above the north pole and the we get the aurora formation commonly called "the doughnut", a round "blob" circling the North Pole, and we see drapes.
- But this night was different. When the front of the aurora passed over Russia, at least two vortexes were separated from the main doughnut. These resulted in smaller "domes" that stayed stable while they passed over Europe, but dissipated once the reached the Atlantic. You can see these vortexes in the satellite image from NASA. In that image, they are roughly over Saratov and Salavat in southern Russia. One of these vortexes passed over Lysekil where I was, and another one passed over Poland and Germany, giving both a very nice view of this aurora. Another crazy effect of these vortexes, was that when I aimed the camera to the north, where the aurora usually is, there was very little activity there. I even took som reference photos as proof: 1, 2; while facing south, the sky was literally on fire. It was a crazy night! --Cart (talk) 22:05, 1 June 2026 (UTC)

Another version (black & white converted version) is already featured in the English wikipedia, but not in Commons. My proposal was done by hand only, with GIMP. I have enhanced the size, the sharpness with the low-pass filter technique, and cloned out all the scratches, tears, spots, and other damages by cloning out technique. -- Jebulon (talk) 17:57, 29 May 2026 (UTC)

Support - Some minor OOF foliage in the lower left corner, but very excusable given what the image is. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 16:53, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
Oppose A shame about the out of focus area in the bottom left corner, and in general I miss an outstanding composition. I often find this with ultra-wide panoramas - that they miss a clear composition and are instead just a wide frame showing a lot of...stuff. The picture is also clearly downsized, which was normal in 2007 when Diliff uploaded this because internet connections were not as fast then as they are now, but 2000px vertical resolution is a little low. Finally, I think the light is quite flat. There are lots of interesting details as usual for Diliff photos but not FP to me. Cmao20 (talk) 18:12, 29 May 2026 (UTC)

Comment I agree that the church is beautiful and photographed well, but this picture taken by the same photographer on the same day looks more representative. In my opinion, a simpler composition with no disturbing elements, such as the people near the right edge and the large tree obscuring the western side of the church, is more compelling. At the end of the day, both pictures may be featurable. I just wanted to point out to another picture of the same subject. --Kiril Simeonovski (talk) 22:55, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- I think both have their advantages but this one is the clearer FP to me. The other one doesn't show as many interesting features of the church, such as the dramatic western facade, and makes the whole building appear somewhat short and squat, whereas the picture I nominated has the church elevated at the top of the steps and lit with warmer light, which makes it look much more inspiring. I won't offer an alternative as I am not convinced the other is an FP but others are of course welcome to nominate it if they disagree with my appraisal. Cmao20 (talk) 01:29, 30 May 2026 (UTC)

Would be even better if the photographer had avoided to apply such strong sharpening to the sharp areas and such strong denoising/smudging to the unsharp areas; that combination makes it look somewhat overprocessed. - Aristeas (talk) 13:30, 29 May 2026 (UTC)

Support This is a high-quality capture of European robins mating. I selected this frame as the main nomination because it offers the best side-profile composition and educational value. However, this is part of a serial shoot. I have other frames from the same sequence available if the community wishes to see or consider an "Alternative." -- ––Interaccoonale (talk) 23:17, 27 May 2026 (UTC)

Oppose very good image but unfortunately the cropping of the wing at the top kills it for me. Sorry. --Espandero (talk) 06:34, 28 May 2026 (UTC)- Yes I also worried about it when choosing this file. I personally preferred this one because I thought its wing was full of movement, being very energetic. I am proposing an alternative showing the whole birds and both of them are more in focus.––Interaccoonale (talk) 06:58, 28 May 2026 (UTC)

Support IMO opposing this for the perspective distortion is somewhat close-minded, sorry to say. Not every picture needs to be perspective-corrected to death. This picture instead chooses to highlight the perspective distortion as a feature to illustrate the imposing scale of the building, which is an entirely valid approach. Cmao20 (talk) 12:23, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for your assessment, Cmao20, but I think the motivation for the vote is not based on the picture itselft. I just realised that when I went through all current FP candidates yesterday morning I opposed the 2 noms of Olfa Yakoubi because none of them convinced me in terms of level of detail. The first edit he/she did afterwards was coming here to oppose this candidate (and second oppose in his FP record, what are the odds?). Definitely unfair but nothing unusual. Poco a poco (talk) 14:40, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
- I’m really disappointed and honestly hurt by your comment, Diego. Reading that my vote could be interpreted as revenge or retaliation was painful for me, because that is not how I participate in FP discussions at all.
- I can’t imagine that you would think my oppose is related to the fact that you opposed some pictures I nominated — especially since this not even mine photo. I always try to give my opinion based on the image itself and according to my understanding of FP criteria, even when my opinion may differ from others.
- I still don’t like the composition of this photo. In my opinion, the framing is not ideal, the foreground elements are distracting, and the brightness and distortion affect the overall visual balance. That is why I opposed it, and I still stand by my opinion sincerely and in good faith.
- What hurt me the most is the implication that my opinion was dishonest or motivated by personal feelings. I respect your work and your contributions a lot. In fact, I have supported some of your photos before, and there are also photos of yours that I personally don’t like but chose not to oppose because I respect different artistic views and standards.
- By the way, we already met before — I don’t know if you remember — and I genuinely appreciate your photography overall. That is also why this statement was painful for me to read. Even when we disagree on a nomination, I believe we should assume good faith and respect each other’s opinions.
- And honestly, after reading your comment, I no longer feel comfortable voting on your photos in the future if my opinions are going to be interpreted this way instead of being seen as sincere photographic criticism.
- For this specific picture, I simply do not think it reaches FP level, and my vote was made honestly, sincerely, and without any personal intention. Olfa Yakoubi -ألفة يعقوبي (talk) 17:46, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
- I think that what Diego commented is not what he meant, remember that his level of English is not very good and he could use very direct or incorrect words, there is also the cultural difference. Wilfredor (talk) 19:38, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
- Please Wilfredor, don't talk for me about what I meant or not. I don't think either, that you are the most appropiate person to judge my level of English. I meant what I wrote, because although I don't know Olfa Yokoubi, I've often seen this behavior very often in the almost last 20 years. That's why I wonder about the odds that the first edit after my 2 opposes is right away a decline here. Olfa, you will have to recognize that if my opposes didn't play a role in your oppose it looks at least suspicious. Still I'm happy to read that you confirm otherwise. Poco a poco (talk) 13:03, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
- Your English is absolutely fine, Poco. Best to leave this whole nonsensical discussion. Cmao20 (talk) 13:28, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
- You're right, Poco poco; it wasn't my place to interpret what you meant or judge your English. I'm sorry, it was a mistake on my part. I'll leave Wilfredor (talk) 14:45, 28 May 2026 (UTC)

Support The way the chairs are cut off at the bottom is a bit annoying; I would have cut it at the level of the stairs, but that's more of a personal decision than a technically valid one. The chandelier also obstructs the view of the dome, but I understand it's a necessary sacrifice since it's not something that can be removed. Thank you for this nomination. I have a similar one from another church, and I had my doubts about whether this type of composition would be accepted, but I agree that not all wide-angle distortion needs to be corrected, especially if the result would create a completely disproportionate image. --Wilfredor (talk) 14:17, 27 May 2026 (UTC)

- The depth of field is shallow, admittedly, but I think it's fine.
- Thanks Skander zarrad (talk) 21:22, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
- I like the picture and it’s not strongly overexposed to the point of burning out the photo, but some areas could have more texture if they were slightly less bright. There’s a fine line between what is acceptable and what isn’t, so take this more as my personal opinion than as an absolute truth. In short, don’t take it too seriously. Support per Cmao20. “Best of Commons” does not mean “the best photos of each subject” – for that we have got VI –, it means “the best images on Commons”. If we have 10 great and wonderful photos of species A and only 1 mediocre photo of species B, we can feature all 10 great photos of species A, if they are really great and are sufficiently different (showing different aspects/perspectives/poses/subspecies/… of species A), but must not feature the mediocre photo of species B; the latter should become a VI for species B, of course. – Aristeas (talk) 10:14, 29 May 2026 (UTC)

A multitude of neatly arranged stones forms the pavement of Ulica Piotrkowska.
- Gallery: Commons:Featured pictures/Objects/Sculptures#Monuments_and_memorials
Info Ulica Piotrkowska in Łódź (Poland) is paved with 16,890 personalized stones, each carrying the name of one of the city's inhabitants. The project was started in 2000 on the occasion of the turn of the millennium, and has since been expanded twice. The aim of this set is to illustrate the commemorative stones and their cast iron plaques both in detail and as repeated elements arranged in rows forming the surface of the street. All by me. --Aciarium ⚒ (talk) 17:43, 24 May 2026 (UTC)

Support Strong and consistent visual approach throughout the set. The selective focus works here as part of the memorial narrative rather than a technical limitation. Having visited Piotrkowska myself, I find the images particularly effective in conveying the reflective atmosphere of the site - the fading names and repetitive structure reinforce the sense of memory and quiet absence remarkably well. -- Radomianin (talk) 18:45, 24 May 2026 (UTC)

Comment I don’t understand the idea of a set. each is featurable IMO. in my humble opinion you should nominate one after the other…--Jebulon (talk) 19:23, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Jebulon: Thank you, I actually wanted to nominate the images separately in the first place. However, I think a set nomination is suitable here, because both pictures show different aspects of the same subject, which I think is very helpful in explaining the artwork. The pavement, photographed at a "macroscopic" scale, visualizes the sheer amount of stones that it consists of. The other image shows how such a commemorative stone and its plaque look in detail. IMO, this also corresponds to what you might experience when you visit the location for the first time: at the first glance, you see that the pavement is made up of uncountable individualized stones; then you bow down and look at the single stones up close, reading the names inscribed in them -- at least this is what I did! :) --Aciarium ⚒ (talk) 23:56, 25 May 2026 (UTC)

Question heavy compression, 339 KB/MP and 51% of full resolution, likely cropped or downsized ? --Wilfredor (talk) 14:29, 24 May 2026 (UTC)
- I am not sure why you are commenting this kind of thing on nearly every recent nomination on this page. The picture is probably cropped but I don't see why that is an issue. The file size seems roughly normal for an image of this resolution when compared to other FPs in the category and I cannot see any compression artefacts. Cmao20 (talk) 15:38, 24 May 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for your question. For FP, it's not enough for an image to simply look good; technical quality is also part of the evaluation. Cropping an image isn't necessarily a problem, but if a file has been compressed or significantly reduced in size, it's fair to ask if a better version exists. This helps encourage uploading images at the highest possible quality. Wilfredor (talk) 16:09, 24 May 2026 (UTC)
- Relying so heavily on file size as a metric does not seem to be a good way of evaluating technical quality. I see no actual issues. Cmao20 (talk) 16:27, 24 May 2026 (UTC)
- I agree with you that visible quality is the most important thing, without a doubt. However, we judge phone images quite strictly for technical limitations such as noise, processing and compression. For consistency, I think it's also fair to ask technical questions about files from high-end cameras, especially when the uploaded image is well below the camera's native resolution. My question is simply if there is a better version. Wilfredor (talk) 16:45, 24 May 2026 (UTC)

Support Thank you very much, Cmao20, for the nomination. The picture is 6000 pixels large, and not heavily compressed. Weight is 7,62 Mb. -- Basile Morin (talk) 16:14, 24 May 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks, Basile. Your values are correct; the file is approximately 6000 pixels wide and 7.62 MB. My question arose from comparing it to the native resolution of the EOS R5: 6001 × 3840 represents approximately 51% (half) of the camera's total 45 MP resolution, which isn't necessarily a problem. I agree that the file size alone doesn't indicate harmful compression if no artifacts are visible. My only remaining question was whether a higher-resolution version exists. Wilfredor (talk) 16:26, 24 May 2026 (UTC)
- 8192 pixels => 6001 pixels is a decent crop, in my opinion. The current best Canon camera available on the market (EOS-1D X Mark III) has a maximum of 5472 pixels. The larger resolution of this one offers freedom to choose a convenient framing afterwards. Yes, I decided to focus the composition on the castle. -- Basile Morin (talk) 18:09, 24 May 2026 (UTC)
Support Thank you Basile, after checking the numbers again, 7.62 MB for 23 MP can be consistent with a high-quality JPEG export so I withdraw the concern about heavy compression. My original question was based on calculs, but I see no clear evidence of harmful compression here Wilfredor (talk) 18:48, 24 May 2026 (UTC)

Closing nominations manually
The following description explains how to close nominations manually. Normally this is not necessary, as FPCBot takes care of counting the votes, closing and archiving the nominations. When the Bot has counted the votes, a user needs to check and approve the result; everything else is done by the Bot. Therefore, the following instructions are normally only needed for delist-and-replace nominations that the Bot cannot (yet) process, and in case the Bot malfunctions. The closing can be done by any experienced user. If you need help, just ask on the FPC talk page.
Closing a featured picture nomination
- On Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list click on the title/link of the nomination, then [edit].
- Add the result of the voting at the bottom (on a new line):

(You can leave thegalleryparameter blank if the image was not featured. If the nomination contains alternatives, you must add thealternative=xxxparameter with the name of the selected image between thegalleryand thesigparameter. See FPC-results-reviewed for examples and more explanations.) - Edit the title of the nomination and add
featuredornot featuredafter the link – for example:
:File:XXXXX.jpg
becomes
=== :File:XXXXX.jpg, featured === - Save your edit.
- Add the result of the voting at the bottom (on a new line):
- If it is featured:
- Add the picture to the list of the four most recently featured pictures of an appropriate gallery of Commons:Featured pictures, list as the first one and delete the last one, so that the number is four again.
- Add the picture to the appropriate featured picture gallery page and section. Click on the most appropriate link beneath where you just added it as one of the four images on Commons:Featured pictures, list to find the gallery page, and search for the correct section. (An image should only appear ONE time in the galleries. After a successful nomination, the image can be placed in several of the Featured pictures categories.)
- Add the template

FP promotion
File:XXXXX.jpgto the talk page of the user who has uploaded the image, if that user is not the same as the nominator. - Add
FP promotion
File:XXXXX.jpgto the talk page of the creator, if the author is a different Commons user than nominator and uploader.
- Add candidate archive categories to the nomination so that people can easily find and evaluate past nominations (this applies also to unsuccessful, FPX-d, FPD-d and Withdraw-n nominations). It’s best practice to wrap all these categories in a
<noinclude>...</noinclude>section because they apply only to the nomination itself, not to the log page etc. which transclude it. You need three or four categories:- A category for the month and year, like Category:June 2026 featured picture candidates for the current month.
- A category for the type and result of the nomination, like Category:2026 successful candidates for featured picture status; replace “successful” by “unsuccessful”, “FPXed”, “FPDed” or “withdrawn”, depending on the final result of the nomination (see the supercategory for common values).
- A category for the subject of the nomination, like Category:2026 featured picture candidates of plants. Replace “plants” by one of the possible subject keywords like “animals”, “architecture”, etc.; see the base category for all common keywords. Basically the subject keywords correspond to the first part of the gallery link.
- If the nomination is a set nomination, add Category:2026 featured picture set nominations.
- As the last step (whether the image is featured or not; including FPX-d, FPD-d and Withdraw-n nominations), you have to move the transclusion (the and the text within those) of the nomination to the current log page.
- To find the current log page, visit the first page of the log for this month. If the header of that page contains a link with the text “Next part of this month”, the log for this month has been split into several parts because it contains too many entries. Click on the “Next part …” link and repeat this until you reach a page where the header does not offer a “Next part …” link; that’s the last and current log page.
- Now open Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list, click on [edit], and find the transclusion of the nomination you are closing. It will be of the form:
or:. - Copy that line to the bottom of the current log page and save that page. Then remove the same line from the candidate list and save that page.
Closing a delisting nomination
- On Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list click on the title/link of the candidate image, then [edit].
Add the result of the voting at the bottom (on a new line):
(for example see Commons:Featured picture candidates/removal/File:Ensifera ensifera (22271195865).jpg) - Edit the title of the delisting nomination and add
delistedornot delistedafter the image title; for example:=== :File:XXXXX.jpg ===
becomes=== :File:XXXXX.jpg, delisted === - Add candidate archive categories to the nomination; this works the same way as described above for featured picture nominations. The only difference is that the category for type and status must be of the form Category:2026 successful candidates for delisting from featured picture status, or Category:2026 successful candidates for delisting and replacing featured pictures if this is a delist-and-replace nomination. Substitute “unsuccessful”, “FPXed”, “FPDed” or “withdrawn” for “successful”, depending on the final result of the nomination.
- Move the transclusion of the nomination to the current log page; please see above for an explanation how to find the current log page and how to move the nomination to it.
- If the outcome was not delisted, stop here. If it is delisted:
- Remove the picture from Commons:Featured pictures, list and any subpages.
- Edit the picture's description as follows:
- In the Assessments template on the image description page, change
featured=1tofeatured=2(do not remove the Assessments template; do not change anything related to its status in other featured picture processes). If the image description page uses the old Featured picture template, replace it with. - Remove the image from all categories beginning with "Featured [pictures]" (example: Featured night photography, Featured pictures from Wiki Loves Monuments 2016, Featured pictures of Paris); but not from categories about featured pictures on specific Wikipedia editions, like Category:Featured pictures on Wikipedia, English.
- Remove the "Commons quality assessment" claim (P6731) "Wikimedia Commons featured picture" (Q63348049) from the picture's Structured data.
- In the Assessments template on the image description page, change
- Add a delisting-comment to the original entry in the chronological archive of featured pictures in bold-face, e. g. delisted 2007-07-19 (1–6) with (1–6) meaning 1 keep and 6 delist votes (change as appropriate). The picture must not be removed from the chronological archives.
- If this is a Delist and Replace, the delisting and promotion must both be done manually. To do the promotion, follow the steps in the section above. Note that the assessment tag on the file page and the promotion tag on the nominator's talk page won't pick up the /replace subpage that these nominations use.
Archiving a withdrawn nomination
If a nomination has been withdrawn by the nominator by using Withdraw or is cancelled with FPX or FPD, wait 24 hours after the nomination was last edited. If there has been no objection to the cancellation within this time, the nomination can simply be archived. Just add candidate archive categories to the nomination itself, then move the transclusion of the nomination to the current log page; please see above for an explanation how to find the current log page and how to move the nomination to it.
