A wave of drone strikes targeted a factory in Erbil, causing a significant fire. The governor confirmed that the attacks resulted in substantial damage.

Channel8 correspondent reported that at approximately 7:30 AM on Wednesday, a fire erupted at a factory located on the main Erbil-Khabat highway. The facility, which manufactures motor oil, has been repeatedly targeted by drone strikes, leading to explosions and a large blaze on the premises.

Firefighting teams immediately arrived at the scene, working to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to adjacent areas.

Erbil Governor: Three drones shot down

According to the Erbil Governorate, after emergency response teams arrived at the scene, the location was targeted again by a second drone approximately 8:40 AM.

Governor Omed Xoshnaw confirmed that the series of drone attacks persisted, with a third drone being intercepted and shot down over the site at 10:20 AM. In total, three drones were shot down at the depot, and another was destroyed in mid-air before reaching its target.

Xoshnaw Urges Evacuation Citing Security Risks

“For the safety of security forces personnel and civil defense teams, they have been asked to stay away from the scene because, due to three airstrikes and the magnitude of the fire, nothing inside the warehouse remains that has not burned,” Xoshnaw stated.

Xoshnaw noted that, given the ongoing risks and the absence of any recoverable contents within the warehouse, emergency teams are now monitoring the fire as it continues to burn out on its own.

The governor further urged the gathered citizens at the scene to evacuate for their safety and protection.
