Hello , my name is Abraham Shaw ii A candidate for State Representative District 7. I've lived in the district for 57 years , seen many of the changes, good and bad . I decided to run for office to add a regular citizen's voice and experiences to the problems we need solved in Lansing. For far to long the party's have put their preferred candidate and we've watched them fail us on policy after policy. I've had enough of just venting from afar, so I decided to run. But I am running without any outside donations or help besides citizens. I think this is the best way to represent my neighbors and district, as if elected I would only owe my loyalty to them.
  • That for us to move ahead and prosper,Education should be funded with qualified individuals who are passionate about teaching our children the skills necessary for a better chance to succeed in life, but also who want to stay in Michigan to do it.
  • Living near a area that has been rezoned for heavy industrial, I have a firsthand seat to the abuse on tax and environmental problems some companies have done in area near Hamtramck, and east Detroit . I have attended public meetings and where I have spoke with a few companies that are trying to work out compliance. But also to create an area where citizens and businesses can coexist.
  • If elected, I would like to take another look at the auto insurance policy to see if there is more ways to get better rates. Since the last bill passed, the rates have increased eaving everyone perplexed about the so-called savings that were promised.
I am very passionate about corporate Tax policy and environmental protection. Environmental abuse is what made me decided to run for office.
My dad . He has shown great character and strength as he provided for me and my siblings , after my Mother's murder.
To be honest and straightforward while debating issues freely with other Rep's to come to and understanding.
Being a mechanic for over 40 years has given me many traits that I believe will be perfect for a representative. The most important 3 qualities that stands out to me is the ability to listen, have patience and communicate. I want to focus on these 3 because as a representative, I have to be able to truly listen to the citizens in my district and understand there problem. By doing this it will allow me to create better policies in the best interest of my district members.
To communicate with citizens about issues and advance those ideas into meaningful policies to help the people in my district
and the state of Mi.
The one that I have left with everyone that knows me. That I'm honest, straight forward and I don't say something that I don't follow through on. Character is paramount in my opinion.
My first job was Toys r us at the bel air shopping center and I worked there for 1 year .
That both sides would have constructive and open conversations about policy's that help the citizens of Mi.
Finding ways to keep business and communities working together for a better future.
Yes, any idea or concern I want to have put in legislation will get nowhere if I do not build some sort of relationship with other members of government.
Yes to overseeing, but no to emergency because some situations might arise while Representatives are out of session and time might be a factor.
A bill to improve on the previous auto insurance reform.
Anything that has to do with environment or tax policy
I'm in full support of open government. People who make moves behind the scenes have too much influence, but they hide behind donations and favors outside of office. We need to find a way to limit that.

I am a 53 year old ,African American , from Detroit. Married with two children. I'm honest straight forward , and is passionate about the way people are treated in this world .

Yes , working with others , you will need relationships to understand each other point of view before you get down to crafting bills . It will make the process easier I think.
