Tunisia: Citizens in U.S. Vote in Their Country's Historic Elections

Washington — Tunisia is holding its first elections since its people successfully ousted their longtime ruler, Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, in January. Those Tunisian citizens living outside of the country have been given the opportunity to vote during the three-day period before their fellow citizens inside Tunisia cast their ballots October 23.

The elections are historic. Voters are selecting representatives to the country's new National Constituent Assembly, which will form a new government and write a new Tunisian constitution to replace the document that had served the country during decades of autocratic rule.
