The Second AHA Centre Recovery Webinar – Linking The Second AHA Centre Recovery Webinar – Linking Response, Recovery and Development in Practice brought together regional experts to explore the linkages between response, recovery, and development across the disaster management continuum.

Using Tropical Cyclone Nalgae (Paeng) in 2022 as a case study, the session highlighted how recovery begins alongside response operations through early recovery actions, assessments, coordination, financing, and recovery planning, helping connect immediate humanitarian efforts with longer-term development priorities.

The AHA Centre would like to thank the @asean Secretariat and @undp for co-organising the successful event, as well as speakers from the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Philippines, ASEAN-ERAT, UNDP, World Bank, Philippine Red Cross, and Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Philippines, for sharing their valuable insights and experiences.

A warning only saves lives when people understand A warning only saves lives when people understand it, trust it, and know how to act.

From 8–10 June 2026 in Da Nang, Viet Nam, 64 representatives from 11 ASEAN Member States National Disaster Management Organisations and National Hydrometeorological Services, Civil Societies Organisations, Red Cross/Red Crescent National Societies, and partners came together for the Regional Capacity Building on Inclusive Early Warning Messaging.

The message was clear: technology alone is not enough. Effective warnings must reach everyone—including older persons, persons with disabilities, women, youth, children, and those too often left behind—and be supported by trust, local knowledge, community networks, and strong coordination.

Hosted by the Viet Nam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority and supported by Global Affairs Canada through the ASEAN-BRACE Project.
