Don Brown, a career member of the Foreign Service, became Chargé d’Affaires ad interim at the U.S. Mission to Afghanistan in July 2025, after serving as deputy chief of mission since November 2023. Eric joined the Foreign Service in 2006.  A Management Officer by training, Eric began work in the U.S. Mission to Afghanistan as Management Counselor in September 2025.  He is currently serving as Acting Deputy Chief of Mission.  Before this assignment, Eric served as Senior GSO at Embassy Ankara in Türkiye.
