How to set up the BBS software

edit msged.cfg by going "e msged.cfg" and change
"Name" to your name and "Address" to whatever address
you will be using for your system. Due to the (deliberate)
lack of political structure and the anarchic nature of the
technology (any 2 systems can choose to exchange messages
without restriction), no-one can stop you from choosing any
address you want. However, you will cause problems if you
clash with an address someone else is already using. It is
thus requested that if you don't wish to coordinate with
anyone else that you choose 380:32767/xxx where xxx is a
number from 2 to 32766, with the 32767 being a free-for-all.

However, it would be better if you coordinated with others
to choose an address in a defined number range. You can ask
about this by posting a message in the PDNET group.

You can also change the "Origin System Name" (near the
bottom) to some system name, e.g. "Origin Fred's System",
but doing so is optional. Normally the system name is not
visible.

Save your changes with ctrl-x, ctrl-s to save, then
ctrl-x, ctrl-c to exit.

edit tobruk.cfg by going "e tobruk.cfg" and change "Address"
to the same address as before, except without the "@pdnet".
Change the name in "App Tobruk Name" to your name. You will
need to change all the lines that look like this:
EchoArea TEST \bbs\test 123/500 570
to change the numbers "123/500 570" to whatever addresses
you intend to exchange mail with. When you first set up your
system you are likely to only be communicating with one person,
so if their address is "123/400" then just type that. If you
are also communicating with 123/700 you can either type
"123/400 123/700" or just "123/400 700".

You can create new echos by adding a new "fido" line to
msged.cfg and a new EchoArea line to tobruk.cfg and making
a new directory with "md xxx" where xxx is the directory
you specified in your config files.

Note that some echos (groups) may not be exchanged with
every person you communicate with.

Daily operation of the BBS is documented in operate.txt
